Access Statement
Introduction Welcome to the Warren Bed and Breakfast in the village of Alton. Our objective is to cater for all the needs of our guests and we hope that this access statement will enable you to decide whether our accommodation will be suitable for you. If there are any questions which we do not answer here then please contact us directly. Pre-Arrival We can be contacted by telephone on 01538 702493 or 07855 731006, by email at annettebas@tinyworld.co.uk or via our website www.thewarren-bb.com. Our website provides all the necessary information for booking a stay plus it contains photographs of our rooms and general facilities, internal and external. Public transport: The nearest railway station is Uttoxeter (8 miles away) and mainline station Stoke on Trent (14 miles away). There is an Alton Towers bus service from both stations between March and October and the bus drops off in the village just over a quarter of a mile from The Warren. Taxis are also available but at Uttoxeter station availability is less reliable. We can provide numbers of local taxi firms if required. Arrival and Car Parking Directions to The Warren can be found on our website. Our drive and ample off road car parking areas are all surfaced in tarmac. The Warren has extensive gardens and two seating areas for the use of our guests. Main Entrance and Reception Check-in is any time after 4 pm and departure by 10.30 am The reception entrance is at ground floor level at the left hand side of the property and is clearly signed. Access is up two steps of approximately 7 inches each and through a door 35 inches wide. Guests will be met upon arrival, shown to their rooms and all facilities explained by the owner Annette. In the entrance hall is a desk with a range of leaflets for most local attractions and there is also a large library of DVDs for the complimentary use of guests during their stay. The hall has a tiled floor throughout. From the Reception hall there is a staircase of 12 stairs to the breakfast room and each stair has a rise of 8 inches. There is a 90 degree turn halfway up the stairs. Public areas - Internal All internal public areas and rooms are totally non-smoking with smoke alarms strategically placed throughout Most internal doors are 30 inches wide with a few at 27 inches; they are solid and wood stained. Dining Facilities The breakfast room is situated on the first floor as described previously and breakfast is served between 8 am and 9 am. The breakfast room can also be used by guests to eat takeaway food in the evenings if required. All tables are square, pine and seat two persons. However this means that the table arrangement is totally flexible such that families and larger groups can be seated together. Full English breakfast is offered but special dietary requirements can be catered for by prior arrangement. Laundry Please ask Annette if you require the use of our laundry or drying facilities Bedrooms Two bedrooms are accessed from the main drive and have their own individual lockable entrances. The doors are approximately 35 inches wide and there is a small step (4 inches) into each room. One room has a double bed and the other has two 3 ft single beds; they are carpeted in short pile fitted carpets. The rooms are equipped with a flatscreen colour TV, freeview, DVD player, refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities, iron, ironing board and a hairdryer. Fresh milk is placed in the fridges each day. Both rooms have ample wardrobe space, a chest of drawers and two bedside cabinets. The double bedded room also has a two-seater sofa Our third room is accessed from the reception hall through two doors and the floor is on exactly the same level as the hall (no steps). It is an en-suite, double bedded room with all the same facilities as the other two rooms. Guests are supplied with a key to the outside door so are free to come and go as they please. Shower Rooms and WCs All the shower rooms are en-suite off their respective bedrooms The en-suites for the first two bedrooms are accessed through wooden doors 27 inches wide, have tiled floors and the shower cubicles are 34 x 29 inches. The sinks are 34 inches high and the WCs are conventional, being 17 inches high. Shelving is provided for easy storage of guest toiletries etc. The en-suite in the internal bedroom has a tiled floor and is accessed through a door 27 inches wide. The shower cubicle is 29 x 30 inches, the sink is 32 inches high and the WC is conventional, being 17 inches high. Outdoor Facilities The Warren is situated in a beautiful location and is almost on the Staffordshire way, therefore being a perfect location for walkers. The Warren is built on the site of a 19th century quarry so the garden is on three levels with paths and steps between the different parts. The grounds run to approximately three quarters of an acre. Guests are welcome to walk around the gardens and there is a large well lit patio area accessed down 14 steps from the parking area.
